India and Japan strengthens their strategic and economic partnership, trade exhibitions like the India Trend Fair TOKYO 2026 and Indian Fashion & Lifestyle Show Osaka are emerging as powerful platforms connecting business, culture and innovation. Beyond commerce, these events reflect the growing convergence of sustainable manufacturing, creative industries and Indo-Pacific economic cooperation between Asia’s two major democracies.

As India and Japan continue to deepen their strategic partnership across trade, technology and the Indo-Pacific, a quieter but equally significant transformation is taking place through fashion, lifestyle, handicrafts and creative industries. In 2026, two major India-focused exhibitions in Japan — the 3rd Indian Fashion & Lifestyle Show in Osaka and the 18th India Trend Fair TOKYO 2026 — are expected to further strengthen India-Japan trade relations while creating new opportunities for Indian MSMEs, exporters, designers and lifestyle brands in the Japanese market.
Organized by the Specified Nonprofit Corporation Japan Industry Promotion Association (JIIPA), the events have steadily evolved into important commercial and cultural platforms connecting Indian businesses with Japanese buyers, retailers, distributors and investors.
At a time when supply chain diversification, sustainable manufacturing and Indo-Pacific economic partnerships are becoming central to global trade strategies, these exhibitions represent far more than conventional trade fairs. They reflect the growing convergence between India’s manufacturing capabilities, creative economy and Japan’s demand for high-quality, sustainable and artisanal products.
India-Japan Partnership Expands Beyond Traditional Trade
India and Japan today share one of Asia’s most important strategic relationships. While cooperation in infrastructure, technology, semiconductors, mobility and defence often dominates headlines, the cultural and commercial dimensions of the partnership are gaining equal momentum.
Japanese consumers have shown increasing interest in Indian textiles, handcrafted products, sustainable fashion, wellness goods, home décor and lifestyle brands. Indian craftsmanship, natural fabrics and artisanal production methods resonate strongly in Japan’s premium and conscious consumer segments.
Against this backdrop, trade exhibitions such as the India Trend Fair and Indian Fashion & Lifestyle Show have emerged as essential bridges between the two economies.
The 3rd Indian Fashion & Lifestyle Show will take place from June 17–19, 2026 at My Dome Osaka, one of western Japan’s prominent exhibition venues. The event is expected to showcase Indian textiles, garments, accessories, handicrafts, wellness products and lifestyle innovations to Japanese business visitors and buyers.
This will be followed by the 18th India Trend Fair TOKYO 2026, scheduled from July 29–31, 2026 at the Shinjuku Triangular Square in Tokyo, a major commercial and business district in Japan’s capital.
Together, the events are expected to attract participants from across the fashion, retail, interior design, lifestyle and import-export sectors.

Why These Trade Fairs Matter
For Indian exporters and startups, Japan remains one of the world’s most sophisticated and quality-conscious markets. Entering the Japanese market often requires long-term trust building, consistent product standards and strong relationship management.
Trade fairs organized by JIIPA provide Indian businesses with direct exposure to Japanese buyers and market trends while also helping them understand consumer preferences, packaging expectations and retail dynamics.
The exhibitions create opportunities in sectors such as:
Indian textiles and fabrics
Sustainable fashion and apparel
Handicrafts and artisanal products
Wellness and Ayurveda-inspired products
Home décor and interior lifestyle products
Fashion accessories and jewellery
Eco-friendly and ethical consumer goods
The importance of these sectors has grown globally as consumers increasingly prioritise sustainability, authenticity and handcrafted value over mass-produced goods.
For Japan, India also offers diversification opportunities at a time when global supply chains are undergoing structural changes. Japanese companies are actively exploring new sourcing destinations and manufacturing partnerships across Asia, and India’s expanding industrial ecosystem positions it as a key partner in this transition.
JIIPA’s Role in Strengthening India-Japan Economic Cooperation
The driving force behind these initiatives is the Specified Nonprofit Corporation Japan Industry Promotion Association (JIIPA), headquartered in Tokyo.
Over the years, JIIPA has played a significant role in promoting India-Japan industrial cooperation, SME engagement and business networking. The organization has consistently supported trade exchanges between Indian manufacturers and Japanese enterprises by organizing exhibitions, buyer-seller meetings and commercial networking events.

“JIIPA’s long-term goal is to increase India’s share in Japan’s fashion, lifestyle and textile imports while fostering innovation, sustainability and trusted partnerships. Through consistent engagement, curated trade events and targeted B2B facilitation, JIIPA continues to drive mutual growth and textile trade collaboration between India and Japan. The India Trend Fair and Indian Fashion & Lifestyle Show are not just exhibitions — they are strategic platforms for textile diplomacy, economic cooperation and sustainable innovation,” said Prashant Godghate is the Chairman of the Japan India Industry Promotion Association (JIIPA).
JIIPA has also contributed to strengthening people-to-people connectivity between India and Japan through economic and cultural engagement. Its initiatives help smaller businesses and emerging brands gain international visibility, especially companies that may not otherwise have access to overseas trade promotion platforms.
By facilitating business matchmaking and industry collaboration, JIIPA has become an important institutional bridge between the two countries.
