The Japan Pavilion has emerged as one of the key international attractions at Bharat Tex 2026, underscoring the growing momentum in India–Japan cooperation across textiles, fashion, technology and sustainable manufacturing.

As one of the world's largest integrated textile events, Bharat Tex 2026 has brought together global manufacturers, buyers, technology providers, designers and policymakers under one roof in New Delhi. Amid the strong international presence, Japanese companies are showcasing advanced textile technologies, functional fabrics, technical textiles, sustainable manufacturing solutions and innovative machinery, reflecting Japan's continued commitment to strengthening industrial collaboration with India.

Leading Japan's participation is the Japan India Industry Promotion Association (JIIPA), a Tokyo-based non-profit organisation affiliated with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government. Dedicated to promoting trade and industrial cooperation between Japan and India, JIIPA has played a central role in organising the Japan Pavilion and facilitating the participation of Japanese companies at Bharat Tex 2026.

The organisation's efforts began well before the exhibition opened. Through industry outreach, business networking and promotional activities across Japan, JIIPA encouraged Japanese manufacturers, fashion companies, technology providers and industry stakeholders to explore opportunities in India's rapidly expanding textile sector.

A key milestone in this outreach was the Bharat Tex 2026 Industry Roadshow in Osaka, organised by JIIPA to introduce the exhibition to Japanese businesses and highlight India's growing role as a global textile manufacturing and sourcing destination. The roadshow generated strong interest among Japanese enterprises, paving the way for a robust Japanese presence at the exhibition in New Delhi.

Prashant Godghate, Chairman of JIIPA

Speaking about the initiative, Prashant Godghate, Chairman of JIIPA, said:

"It was a privilege for the Japan India Industry Promotion Association (JIIPA) to organize the industry roadshow for Bharat Tex 2026 in Osaka and to facilitate meaningful engagements of Japanese companies at Bharat Tex 2026. This reflects the growing momentum in India–Japan cooperation in fashion, design, skills development, and creative industries."

The statement reflects the broader transformation in India–Japan economic engagement, where industry-led initiatives are complementing government-to-government cooperation by creating tangible business opportunities. Increasingly, collaboration between the two countries is extending beyond manufacturing into design, innovation, sustainability and creative industries.

JIIPA has also strengthened Japanese participation by launching a dedicated Japanese-language portal for Bharat Tex, enabling exhibitors and buyers to access event information, registration procedures and business opportunities in their native language. Such initiatives have lowered entry barriers and encouraged greater participation, particularly from Japanese small and medium-sized enterprises seeking partnerships in India.

Visitors to the Japan Pavilion are witnessing a diverse showcase of Japanese innovation, including technical

textiles, functional and high-performance fabrics, advanced fibres, textile machinery, automation technologies and environmentally sustainable production solutions. These capabilities complement India's strengths in large-scale manufacturing, competitive sourcing, skilled human resources and a rapidly expanding domestic and export market.

The pavilion is also serving as a vibrant platform for business networking. Throughout the exhibition, Japanese exhibitors are engaging with Indian manufacturers, exporters, sourcing agencies, fashion brands and policymakers to explore opportunities for technology transfer, joint ventures, research collaboration and long-term commercial partnerships.

As global supply chains continue to evolve, India has emerged as an increasingly attractive manufacturing destination. Bharat Tex 2026 provides Japanese companies with an opportunity not only to identify reliable sourcing partners but also to evaluate investment prospects and collaborative manufacturing models that can enhance resilience and competitiveness.

The growing engagement at the Japan Pavilion reflects the complementary strengths of both countries. While Japan brings globally recognised expertise in innovation, precision engineering and sustainable manufacturing, India offers manufacturing scale, a dynamic textile ecosystem and access to rapidly growing domestic and international markets.

Beyond business transactions, the participation of Japanese companies reinforces the broader vision of the India–Japan Special Strategic and Global Partnership, where economic cooperation is increasingly driven by innovation, technology and people-to-people exchanges. The textile and apparel sector is emerging as another important pillar of this partnership, alongside digital technologies, infrastructure, mobility and advanced manufacturing.

As Bharat Tex 2026 continues, the strong response to the Japan Pavilion demonstrates the growing confidence of Japanese industry in India's textile sector and its long-term growth potential. Through JIIPA's leadership in bringing together Japanese enterprises under one roof, the pavilion has become more than an exhibition space—it is a catalyst for deeper industrial collaboration, sustainable growth and enduring business partnerships between India and Japan.

With few days of the exhibition still ahead, the Japan Pavilion is expected to witness further engagement from buyers, investors and industry leaders, reinforcing Bharat Tex 2026 as an important platform for shaping the future of India–Japan cooperation in the global textile and apparel industry.
