Ambassador George also emphasized the growing people-to-people dimension of the partnership, highlighting a target of facilitating 500,000 exchanges between India and Japan over the next five years.

Manish Sharma, in his remarks, highlighted the transformation of India’s manufacturing sector, noting significant improvements in ease of doing business over the past decade. Citing Suzuki Motors as a model for Indo-Japanese success, he advocated for a new wave of investments, especially in areas like energy efficiency and storage solutions.

Strategic Industry Engagements

Throughout the mission, the FICCI delegation engaged in a series of high-level meetings with Japanese industry leaders and policymakers, aimed at deepening industrial collaboration and promoting sustainable growth.

One of the key interactions was with Kenichi Ayukawa, Executive Vice President of Suzuki Motor Corporation. The discussions focused on advancing cooperation in sustainable mobility, electric vehicles (EVs), energy security, AI, telematics, and their potential to foster employability in India’s growing mobility and digital ecosystems.

In another pivotal meeting, delegates met with Matsuo Takehiko, Vice Minister for International Affairs at Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI). The dialogue centered around enhancing bilateral trade, attracting industrial investments, and building resilient value chains between the two economies.
